I just hacked the firmware of my GF1 to a fabolous 44mbit AVCHD.
The images results are pretty awesome without any artifact.
- I can now use Manual Controls in movie mode (COOL!)
- I can now film longer than 30minutes video.
- I can now film a 25p or 30p 720p resolution (1280×720) with a really huge 15 mp APS-C CMOS sensor.

I’m still testing now if its possible to mix Canon Mark II and GF1 footages.

Nice to read that Philip Bloom was on Skywalker Ranch to give information about the Canon Mark II to the team of George Lucas.
He show the materials filmed inside the ranch to the team and to George Lucas + Quentin Tarantino.

In the latest issue (September) of Wired America for iPad you can see an unusual ADV from Canon.
They develop a great cinema-scene supporting the possibility of the Canon EOS 5D Mark II the only
one Full Frame CMOS 35mm.
The scene is techically great.
Look at the frames.
The audio from the internal mono-mc of the Canon 5D Mark II are really horrible.
To being able to have a good audio you need an external high quality MC.
I had a professional MC from the great SENNHEISER: the MKE300.
This microphone is a must-have directional MC usable to any consumer device with classical Jack (with adaptor to any professional video equipment).
MKE300 is a mono MC that can put high quality audio to your Canon EOS 5D Mark II.
Its relatively low-cost MC (around 220euro include taxes).
Testing with the Canon and using manual audio control it gives great results.

I really like the work of Marco Brambilla an italian-USA director specialized in installation.
Marco Brambilla direct the last music video of Kanye West that appears to be much more an installation than a music video.
I like this pieces of work, despite his bad compositing, bad matte design and some fake 2.5D that are not working really well.
In terms of sensation this video is great. Technically not.
In some way it seems to be a ‘90 flash installation; and in the past there was a lot of great flash
animation made only by photo-sequence.
This video need to be 3D projected…I imagine what it can be if properly designed in 3D projection.
I really like the idea to make a non-music-video at 1:30minutes. Really short.
This appaers to be the first Music video teaser ever seen.

This is one of the most beautiful video shot with Canon Mark II.
Here you can really see the difference with almost all the classic HD-Pro cameras.
Its not the most innovative video but trully beautiful.

I’m a Director not a photographer.
I select a bounch of new accessory to transform the Canon EOS 5D Mark II 24×36 Full Format 35mm in a serious Cinema Digital Camera.
Considering that this camera has an incredible latitutude, iso sensitive and dynamics its obviouss to understand that the problem of the “Razor Focus” is here.
The first things to do is to have a serious viewfinder for a critical focus.
There are a lot of fantastic viewfinder from Zacuto and other manufacturer, but they are really costly.
I think is better to stay in reasonable cost because I usally lost or destroy them.
Digifinder.Pro is a really fantastic viewfinder that does what he say.
Fast, sturdy and easy to mount.
You can use it for critical focus. Really useful.
You can use it also if you are a photographer and want to use Live View seriously.

Some months ago I watch this movie “Dragon Trainer”.
Despite the fact it wasnt a pixar movie I decided to give a chance.
The film was really great in 3D!
one of the best cartoon of the year and I think a new trilogy will come.
If you ever had a Black cat this film touch your heart really deeply;
The film remember me my sweet cat Agata that was killed by a car 1 week ago.

Share“Whatever Works” by Woody Allen really “work”
I’m not a movie critic.
I’m a huge fan of Woody Allen that seems to be the most prolific director in the world.
He is absolutelly a genius.
The story of “”Whatever Works” is about a genius “Boris” that is the alter-ego of Woody Allen.
This movie is absolutelly an experiment from an old script that Woody write a lot of years ago.
I cant understand why critics hate this movie.
Probabilly they simply cant understand the spirit of Allen.
This is not the best from Allen , but trust me if you love a cinical movie that can surprise you
with dialogue “”Whatever Works” is for you.

Lionsgate use of Chatroulette to promote “THELASTEXCORCISME.COM” was great.
In some way it hurt me, because it use “free” service and in an aggressive way.
Anyway, watching the video is up to you, its really “strong”.
